Elsenham Primary School is set to have its Victorian wall rebuilt after the
donation of the final piece of the funding jigsaw. The final push towards the total £17,000 cost of the new wall was provided in the form of a £500 gift from village Freemasons. The rest of the money has come from a number of sources, including the parish council, the village hall management committee and BAA Stansted. Head Teacher Nicola Baxter said: "We are grateful to all those people who have contributed. "We are hoping the wall will be fairly spectacular when it's finished and work is set to start in the next few weeks". The new wall is so expensive because it has been designed to look as much like the 1860 original as possible. It will still boast the iron railings and curved brick pillars that made the first so distinctive. The new wall should be in place by the Spring.
